In the late 1970's I became despondent over the use of my documentary images and decided I needed to find a more innocent way to make a living. In my spare time, the new commercial work would pay for the documentary work which I continued on my own. Because of my background in history and art history and my experiences in photojournalism, I brought new ways of thinking into my still-life work more akin to making pictures from life, but as well I brought spareness to some assignments.
